Oil Changes - Oil & Filters

Oil Changes - one of the most important maintenance items you must do for the longevity of your vehicles.  Changing the engine oil at the recommended OEM change interval is critically important when using conventional oil.  In cases where you use synthetic oil, the OEM may offer extended oil change intervals.  Absent of OEM recommendations, some synthetic oil manufacturers offer extended oil change intervals.

When using AMSOIL, there are three different tiers to choose from:

Signature Series - offers the maximum protection
- Guaranteed protection for up to 25,000 miles or 1 year

Extended Life - 20,000 miles of guaranteed protection between changes
-Normal Service – Up to 20,000 miles (32,000 km) or one year, whichever comes first, in personal vehicles not operating under severe service.

OE - Specifically formulated for the longer drain intervals recommended by original equipment (OE) manufacturers

Oil Filters

AMSOIL offers oil filters for the majority of vehicles on the market.  Most of the oil filters match perfectly with the extended drain intervals of the Signature Series oil as well as the Extended Life oil.

AMSOIL Oil Filters feature advanced full-synthetic media that traps and holds a greater amount of small, wear-causing contaminants compared to conventional and other high-efficiency filters.

When an oil filter is not manufactured by AMSOIL, they might offer a Wix filter or alternate.  When using any filter other than the one manufactured by AMSOIL, it is critical that the oil filter be changed at the OEM recommended intervals - even if the oil is good for up to 25,000 miles or one year.  If the OEM says to change it every 3, 4, or 6-months, then it must be changed every 3, 4, or 6-months.

There are many different types of materials that oil filters are made of.  The ones manufactured by AMSOIL will specify how long they are good for.  AMSOIL currently offers two different full-flow filters for various applications:

Filters designated with product code EA15K are recommended for 15,000 miles (24,000 km) or one year, whichever comes first, in normal or severe service.

Filters designated with product code EAO are recommended for 25,000 miles (40,000 km) or one year, whichever comes first, in normal service or 15,000 miles (24,000 km) or one year, whichever comes first, in severe service.

When used in conjunction with AMSOIL synthetic motor oils, AMSOIL Oil Filters are guaranteed for extended service life.

A caveat to the above - when using the AMSOIL Automotive (or other) Product Guides, there might be a note indicating the appropriate oil change interval - regardless of the oil used.  It is important that this guidance be followed.  For example, some vehicles may be more prone to fuel diluting the oil (common on certain diesel engines).  Unless oil analysis is being used to confirm the continued use of the oil, it is highly recommended to change it when specified and monitor the oil level (for engines that are prone to "creating oil" - again typical with certain models of diesel engines).
